Even though traveling on a plane may appear something usual to you but you cannot deny the necessity to practice airline safety. Especially when you are traveling on floatplanes, the need to maintain safety grows more. You should select a pilot who has an impressive flying record and Floatplane rating in order to be safe. His Float rating added to his certificate will tell you about how good he is at flying. However, if you are just traveling on a usual aircraft, you still have to maintain safety. You must be aware of what to do if by any means something goes wrong with the plane or it encounters a crash. Following are some general measures that you can take that may help you in assuring your safety on the aircraft;
• You must prefer direct flights over flights with connections. This is because most of the crashes take place while take off, landing, climb or descent. Keeping least of all of this will lessen the risks of a plane crash.
• It is advisable to select a larger plane to travel. The planes that were modeled for more than 30 passengers went through strict regulations. Such planes would be safer enough for you. Also, there is an added chances of survival on a larger plane after it goes through a crash. A small plane may be torn into pieces as a whole, while a larger plane wouldn’t.
• Hear to the flight briefing. Although this seems as a basic lesson, many people may not listen to what the operator might be saying. You must be aware of the emergency exit (which might vary for different flights), and what other safety measures you must take if by chance you come across some accident.
• You must not take heavy baggage to be stored in the overhead storage bin. This will reduce the risks of tumbling of heavy articles during a plane crash.
• Keep the seatbelts fixed whenever you are seated. Even though this might be something you are aware of since you were a baby, but keeping the seatbelts fixed will prevent you from any unexpected knocking of the plane.
• You should not take in a lot of drinks. Also make sure that you do not drink too much alcohol while you are on board. The effects of alcohol may highly elevated when you are above sea level.
• Do not pour hot drinks on your own. Flight attendants are usually skilled at this even when the aisle is packed and when the plane is moving. You cannot take any risks with hot drinks, so let the attendant help you.
• As for the airports, choose the ones that are smaller. This way you can make it to the airport on time and would be able to skip all the jamming in city centers.
• If in your control, be seated close to the emergency exit. If you cannot, get to know the way to emergency exit so that you don’t have to wander here and there at the time of any emergency.
• Lastly, stay calm. Do not panic and let fo of all your mental stress before you board the plane. Stay stress free and have a safe flight!
