Take The Family Camping In Bright – Discover The Joy Of Bright
Surrounded by beautiful bush land and some of the most stunning, highest peaks in victoria, camping in Bright is – in my opinion – the most fun way to see everything that Bright has to offer. I’ve seen and stayed in a lot of places at Bright and nothing beats roughing it, sleeping under the stars and getting away from the busy city life and reconnecting with nature itself.
With so many beautiful places to experience memorable family holidays, Bright and the surrounding areas such as Porepunkah and Mt Beauty are a place for everyone. Each town has luxury cabins, caravan parks and stunning camping grounds, most having available electricity and amenities. Every single Christmas since I was a toddler, my family and I would spend our time on the Kiewa River with Mt Bogong towering over us and providing some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. No matter where you stay, shop or just hang out, you are surrounded but extremely hospitable and friendly people, that will always make your stay that much more special. For the more adventurous travelers, there are some places such as Mt Feathertop and My Bogong which has sheltered camping available for overnight. Understandably, there is nothing quite like camping in Bright.
If you would like more information for those more adventurous campers, contacting Parks Victoria is your best and safest choice. Camping is usually only permitted 200 meters from any main roads within national park boundaries, so if you would like to camp in the National Parks you best bet is to either phone or check the Parks Victoria website for further information because these regulations can change seasonally.
For some more quiet and secluded camping, the Dargo High Plains is ideal. This area is less popular in most seasons, which is great for getting back to nature and quiet time with your husband, wife, and family. Around Mt Hotham, all the way up the Great Alpine Road camping is available. Including Dimantina Hut, which is in one of the most perfect spots to view the highest peaks in Victoria. Imagine having that morning cup of coffee whilst gazing over the striking peaks that make up this amazing view.
The most popular area for camping is on the Bogong High Plains themselves, with camping available at several popular locations such as Wallace Hut, Langford Gap, and at several other huts which can extend to being a few kilometers walk from any main road. Wallace Hut in particular receives large numbers throughout the year, being the most photographed hut in Australia, it is understandable why this setting is most favored amongst families who go camping in Bright.
Mountain Creek Camping Ground is located at the very foot of Mt Bogong, offering a comfortable camping area, with toilets and water from the pristine waters of Mountain Creek. This is a personal favorite of mine when I go hiking on Mt Bogong, although it can be quite packed in the summer months, the sound of Mountain Creek in the background certainly makes it easy to forget about the busy lifestyle that you are escaping by going camping in and around Bright.
To be honest, if I were to go on much more about some of these lovely camping spots, I would make a few people unhappy, having spoiled the uniqueness of their special little place. I have my own, and I encourage you to go exploring to find one yourself. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than going camping in Bright, yet another reason to See Bright Victoria.
